Tour Description

A stargazing experience like no other, beneath the Red Centre sky. Step into the stillness of the desert night for a truly unforgettable stargazing experience inside Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Using the naked eye and our high-powered computerised telescope, our passionate guides will take you on a journey through stars, planets, constellations, and celestial stories—blending cultural and scientific perspectives in a way that’s both accessible and inspiring.

We operate from the Uluru Coach Sunset Viewing Area, one of the closest public viewpoints to Uluru itself. You'll enjoy stunning views of the rock during the tour, whether it's glowing under moonlight or silhouetted against a star-filled sky. The drive from Ayers Rock Resort takes approximately 15 minutes, and hotel pick-up is included.

Tour Timing

Tours begin about 1 hour after sunset, with first pick-ups usually between 7:30 PM and 8:50 PM, depending on the season. The exact pick-up time will be emailed to you on the day of your tour. Please allow approximately 90 - 120 minutes at the stargazing site.

When the moon is bright (above 90% illumination for most of the tour), we adjust our pick-up times slightly earlier to give you the best chance of capturing a photo under darker skies or catching the moonrise.

What You’ll See

From March to early November, the Milky Way is visible during tour hours, climbing high in the sky during winter and shining brightly in the cool, crisp desert air. During summer, the Milky Way sets earlier, but it becomes planet season! A great time to see Jupiter, Saturn, and constellations like Orion.

Every night brings something different, and our guides tailor each experience based on sky conditions, moon phase, and seasonal highlights.

Photo Consent & Delivery

We include a professional photo for each guest, free of charge. These are shared via a Flickr link within 48 hours of your tour. You’ll also receive access to an album of  high-quality, guest-free star photos to remember the night.

By attending the tour, you consent to your photo being included in the shared album.

Prefer a Private Album?

If you prefer to receive your photo in a private Flickr album, we offer this for an administration fee of $20.

What to Bring

  • Enclosed shoes (especially in summer - snakes can be active at night)

  • Water bottle (no food or water is provided)

  • Warm clothing in winter! Jackets, gloves, beanies, and long pants are essential for cold desert nights.

Important Notes

  • Guests cannot drive themselves to the tour site - we hold a special after-hours permit to access the National Park and private vehicles are not permitted in the park after it's closed.

  • We ask that no food is eaten on the bus, but you’re welcome to enjoy snacks once we arrive.

  • If you’re planning on doing another tour beforehand, we recommend avoiding dinner-inclusive experiences like Field of Light or Sounds of Silence as there may not be enough time to join us.
